After waiting for a few years, Corrinne May's second album is finally available. So I went to her new website hoping to order a few autographed copies of her second album (I have yet to give Dan and Au their christmas and birthday presents.)Turns out that it's only for U.S. residents. There goes. The local release date is not out yet, although I have read on another person's blog that it's in the first week of May. I'm not sure how accurate the information is.

Dan, hope you haven't got the album yet. Let me know.

It's hard to decide which is my favourite song in the second album. I read an earlier entry (where I went to her performance in 2003) and the song titles I could recall from it were "Everything in its time" and "Happy birthday".

Here are my thoughts on the album:

Little Superhero Girl - Light and fun. She mentioned before that the inspiration came from the powerpuff girls. Can't remember which (was it bubbles?)

All I need is a good disguise where nobody can recognise but I'm feeling so small...

Save me - This song didn't leave a deep impression on me.

Free - Beautiful lyrics from the very first line.

I see the morning glory, it winds upon the tree. It tells the untold story of how things were meant to be......

Everything in its time - She touched me with this song when I first heard it at her performance. I was reminded of this quote on how the answers would come to us when the timing is right.

It often feels like I'm two steps behind. Somebody must have moved that finish line.

Safe in a crazy world - One of my favourites. How often do you feel the same way? We all need something or somebody to keep us sane in this crazy world.

When it's hard to tell what's real, from what the world just wants to preach. You are the voice I seek..

Let it go - I'm not quite sure if I'd heard this in 2003. I remember hearing it on new year's day but still, it didn't leave that much of an impression. Its equivalent is "Walk away" on the first cd.

Angel in Disguise - All the little miracles in our lives that are so ordinary yet extraordinary.

Take a look at the ordinary. Don't need to look for paradise.

If I kissed you - This song didn't leave a deep impression on me.

Happy birthday - Another of my favourites. Optimistic and reflective. Great song to pay tribute to a friend on his/her birthday.

Every beat of my heart - This song makes me feel like it can be a private conversation one can have with oneself. It's a love song about courage, growth and faith.

I wish that time could be replayed, I'd keep you here with me everyday. They say that love is letting go, I hope that you find your way.

Went out with PL today after work. I think the highlight of the day was at Kinokuniya where we were interrupted by a Mr H. A. while looking at a Sylvia Plath's book. He was behind us and loudly proclaimed the book as rubbish. Went on to pick out another book and said that it was a waste of paper (the poems could have fit on a lot less paper). Then he proceeded to say something along the lines of commercialism being evil and then showed us some A4 sized papers which were folded into half, stapled and with haikus printed on them. He then said that that was the real thing.

Yes, he wrote those. Being polite, PL flipped through the booklet and we tried to look interested. Can't remember how we managed to walk away but we were very, very relieved to be able to run away.

PL mentioned that she wanted to find something impressive in the booklet to praise him for but there was nothing she found. I mentioned that he must be bitter that he couldn't find any publisher for his stuff.

I was wrong. Found his name on Amazon. Although a review submitted for one of his books looks rather dubious (I think he submitted it himself), at least he got something published.

Just that I felt it was wrong to be standing in Kino and selling his stuff and making derogatory remarks on other authors. One of these days, he's sure to get chased away if someone gets irritated enough to complain.

Had a good time with PL today. =)
